The IPA Robotics team was formed in 2010 when middle school team members competed in a BrushBots tournament at the Hawaii State Capitol. IPA’s robotics team has grown into a larger robotics program and now includes high school students. Calling themselves the NaviBots, this year the team will compete in three additional tournaments: BotBall, VEX, and FIRST. The special two hour Extreme Makeover-Home Edition program which aired on October 28, 2011, featured a special story which involved IPA and Dustin Iuli, a young man gravely ill in an Oahu hospital. The story was brought full circle when that young man was able to visit IPA on December 8. Mako Nemoto, a senior in the high school at Tamagawa Academy in Japan, has spent most of the first semester on campus as an exchange member of the senior class. The IPA Interact Club provided many helping hands and a jolt of holiday cheer at the Christmas Luncheon on December 3 for seniors residing at the Franciscan Vistas retirement center in Ewa. The Middle School Robotics team competed in the Children and Youth Day Brushbot Tournament at the State Capitol on October 2, 2011.
