There is scope and sequence planning done for each discipline to ensure students a smooth transition from level to level. The high school program includes advanced Placement instruction along with College Level course work. Students in the elementary and middle school divisions are being prepared for success in that challenging high school program. IPA gives students the tools to be independent learners and critical thinkers, skills needed for success in academic work and in life.
Highlights of the Program include:
- Strong foundation in reading, language arts, and writing skills
- Comprehensive mathematics program that stresses reasoning and problem solving
- Science exploration and inquiry-based instruction
- History, geography, social studies and foreign language to provide a global context and appreciation of other cultures
- Computer technology skills developed at age appropriate levels, with students having access to advanced technology resources
- Art, music and drama opportunities for creative expression
- Physical education and athletics to develop the body as well as the mind
- Field studies to augment classroom instruction
- Community service opportunities

The Students
Island Pacific Academy seeks a student body that reflects the rich cultural diversity of Hawaii. In evaluating applications for admission, we strive to make a match between the school's program and mission and the student's aspirations and needs. Although IPA embraces a multi-sensory approach to teaching, it is not intended to accommodate children with special learning needs beyond basic accommodations fundamental to good teaching practice.
Admissions decisions are based on several factors, including previous academic work, teacher recommendations, and age-appropriate assessments. Above all, we look for students who demonstrate eagerness to participate fully in an outstanding educational opportunity, and who embrace the qualities of personal integrity, responsibility, respect for others, and a desire to do one's best.
Our Commitment to Community
At Island Pacific Academy we understand the importance of a campus community built on mutual respect and support. IPA is a place where people can exchange ideas in a collaborative and open environment.
IPA is a part of the diversity that is Oahu, and we acknowledge the traditions of the diverse population of Hawaii in coursework and activities. Where possible and appropriate, IPA will seek to connect learning projects with the wider community in which we participate. Through community service and other programs, IPA seeks to cultivate a sense of citizenship beyond the campus and the individual self.
Governance and Non Profit Status
Island Pacific Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees who share policy and fiduciary responsibility for the school. The Board hires the Headmaster who is directly responsible for the day to day operation of the school.
