The wind played havoc with many golfers’ shots at Turtle Bay last Saturday, but IPA's Alanis Sakuma (’17) fought through the conditions to shoot a 77 and capture first place at the ILH girls' intermediate golf championships. The seventh grader's finish was the best for an IPA golfer at the ILH intermediate championships since current senior Christian Yagi's second-place finish in 2008. The fifth annual Middle School musical debuts this weekend: Annie Jr. Called the Middle School musical because the vast majority of the character roles are filled with students from grades six to eight, the production nonetheless involves students, staff, and parents from across the Secondary Division. Of 40 projects that IPA sent to the district science fair, 10 are advancing to state competition. Competing against some 60 other teams of middle and high school students, the IPA Robotics Team placed eighth overall in the Hawaii Botball Regional Robotics tournament held on May 7. When IPA golfers take to the course, “Fore!” is not something often heard as the Navigators continue to turn in solid performances against their ILH competition. Eighth grader Andrew Licina and his seventh-grade teammate Tomo Arai recently qualified for the ILH Intermediate Golf Championships on Saturday, April 2 at Fort Shafter.
