The Navigator boy’s junior varsity sporter air riflery team started its season on a high note with a (out of a possible 1200 points) 908-813 victory over Mid-Pacific on Saturday, September 3. Also competing against Mid-Pacific, the girls’ junior varsity team fell short, losing 919-840.

Leading the way were sophomores Brandon Henson and Gavin Cabuslay. Henson’s score of 248 (out of a possible 300) led all the boys shooters at the meet, and Cabuslay’s 241 was a strong second. Juniors Jordan Nelligan (220) and Bruce Hobin (199) rounded out the top four for the Navigators. Henson’s 248 is currently the second-best average in the ILH junior varsity standings, just one point behind Punahou’s Ryan Mori at 249. Cabuslay’s 241 average puts him right behind Henson in third.

On the girls’ side, freshman Ella Axelrod made an impressive JV debut as she led the squad with a final total of 220. Juniors Jenny Jones and Virginia Rhodes totaled 211 and 207 respectively, and sophomore Aly McCormick finished with a 202 in her first JV match. Axelrod’s 220 average stands as the tenth-best in the ILH, and Jones and Rhodes’ averages put them at 12th and 14th place respectively.
