When IPA golfers take to the course, “Fore!” is not something often heard as the Navigators continue to turn in solid performances against their ILH competition. Eighth grader Andrew Licina and his seventh-grade teammate Tomo Arai recently qualified for the ILH Intermediate Golf Championships on Saturday, April 2 at Fort Shafter.
Licina stands at 23rd in the ILH standings with a season average of 75 and a season-best round of 73 at Hawaii Kai. Arai is currently in 32nd place with a season average of 81 and a season-best round of 69, also at Hawaii Kai. Arai tees off at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, with Licina close behind him with an 11:56 a.m. tee time.

IPA’s varsity golfers are all currently in the top 35 of the ILH standings, playing from the championship tees. Two-time state qualifier Christian Yagi leads the Navigators with his season average of 81.2, good enough for 18th in the conference. Yagi turned in a season-low score of 74 at Ewa Villages on March 20, which was good enough for eighth place at the meet.

Sophomore Alex Pangelinan stands in 26th place with his 87.8 average and a season low of 85 at Mid-Pacific Country Club on March 21. In his second varsity season, junior Jackson Durrett sits in 31st place with a season average of 95.2 with his low score being a 94 at Waikele on March 28. In his first season at the varsity level, sophomore Laine Bollinger has performed well enough to crack the top 35 as he sits in 34th place. He and the rest of the varsity Navigators are in action this Friday, April 1, at Mililani Golf Course.
