Elementary Student Council
Grade Five students may run for an office on the Elementary Student Council. Students in grades four and five vote on the slate of candidates. The make-up of the Council changes roughly quarterly in order to give a number of students the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
Working with the elementary vice-principal, each new Council works on something to improve the school or community during their 5-6 week term.
Some of the activities and projects they organized in the past include:
- National Reading Day
- 4 square/9 square referees
- School tours at IPA Open House
- Toys for Tots campaign
- 4th & 5th grade intramurals
- Reuse-a-shoe recycling project
- Spirit week
- Talent Show at Monday assemblies
- Volley-Baseball Game - 5th graders VS teachers
