Using Skype video exchange technology, the students in Donja Morton's Junior Kindergarten (JK) class have made new friends in Pennsylvania, and Leah Gionet’s class is making friends with students in California. Both teachers are integrating these experiences with units of study in the classroom, and everyone is enjoying getting to know people who live in a different part of the country.

The Interact Club (High School Rotary International Organization) has joined the Kapolei Adopt a Block program. The group joins a number of other organizations throughout Kapolei including Target, Goodwill, St. Nicholas Episcopal Church (which meets at IPA), and the Kapolei Rotary Sunset Club, which sponsors the IPA Interact group, and coordinated by Lorraine Gershun from Kapolei Sunrise Rotary Club.

On April 18 The Junior Kindergarten students at Island Pacific Academy took part in a Trike-a-Thon to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. At 9:45 that morning the parking lot at IPA became a restricted “Tyke Trike Track,” with the children making their laps for a good cause. Having gathered pledges for the event, the students pedalled energetically to fulfill their end of the bargain. Proud parents were on hand to cheer them on and take photos....
Zenith – the summit, high point, culmination. Zenith - literary magazine at Island Pacific Academy, aptly named because it collects some of the best student writing and visual art by students at Island Pacific Academy. Though it began last year as a publication just for work from students in grades 9-12, this year it was expanded to include material from grades 6-8 and alumni, as well.

In its first year of existence, the upper school Robotics Team, emerged from the Hawaii Regional FIRST Robotics Competition on March 23-24 as one of the three schools in the winning team. The NaviBots (IPA’s school nickname is the Navigators) have thereby earned an invitation to the FIRST World Competition in St. Louis, Missouri, April 25-28.

The fifth annual Middle School musical debuts this weekend: Annie Jr. Called the Middle School musical because the vast majority of the character roles are filled with students from grades six to eight, the production nonetheless involves students, staff, and parents from across the Secondary Division. (Previous productions such as Willy Wonka Jr. and Seussical Jr. even had appropriate roles for Elementary students.)
